In a town along the southern U.S. border, under constant exposure to the heat and relentless wind, lived the people of Forman, Texas. With a population of 5,438 people, most of whom only stayed for a short while, Forman was barely on the map. It was a town where nothing remotely dangerous ever happened, and most lived mundane lives. On this particular summer day in July, dust swirls in the peaceful streets, and the sun casts a warm glow on the old houses lining Main Street. The towering oak trees provide welcome shade to passers-by while they window shop and avoid spending time in the burning sun. The air is filled with the sweet scent of magnolia blossoms and the sound of cicadas from the tall grasses along the road. The slight breeze is only a small comfort on this hot day, and many head indoors to escape and cool down.

Albert Watkins died Tuesday night, at approximately 9:25 p.m. Earlier in the day he attended work at Frank Formans Burger Shack, then went to the Clover Delly Pub for a drink in the evening. He was reportedly seen walking home by a witness around 9:05 p.m. Shawn Woodly was unemployed and lived with his parents, according to them, he had a job interview the day he died at 12:30 p.m. It was at the Clover Delly Pub that I worked as a bartender. Woodly was found dead in his home at 5:00 pm when his parents returned home from work.
