This information is quite staggering but it is not the only one. Fort Bragg is the fourth largest military base in the world in terms of area it covers. The whole military compound including all the buildings, facilities, offices and camps covers an area of approximately 650 square kilometers. It was founded back in 1918 and it was called camp bragg. The US government spent around 6 million us dollars to buy land and to finance construction of base. That was quite a money back in 1918. Construction of the camp was completed in 1919 and was named after Confederate States Army forces commander in the Civil War, General Braxton Bragg.
