One undeniable fact remains; the fractured shale oil and gas will not last forever and the downside to the fracking boom is lurking. In a recent article, David Hughes makes this observation: “The promises associated with the expectation of robust and relatively cheap shale gas and high-cost but rising tight oil production have also led to a tempering of investments in renewable energy and nuclear power. If, as this report shows, these premises and promises are indeed false, the implications are profound. It calls into question plans for LNG and crude …show more content…
It helps improve the economy and it is readily available. Natural gas has many environmental benefits. But weak safeguards and inadequate over sights have resulted in contaminated water supplies and dangerous air pollution. Not only has the government turned their backs on us, companies have failed to go by the safety regulations, thus creating a problem for the average American family. People have the right to know what is going on and what chemicals are being used. For this, the oil and gas companies need to follow the guidelines that are set out for them to use. Air emissions and water quality need to be regularly checked. The world’s biggest concern is the uncertainty that comes with trying to figure out what our future’s energy holds. The numbers of benefits outweigh the risks that are involved with fracking up until the risks become a reality. People need to ensure that the safeguards are being followed and are not just ignored; for the sake of future generations to come, people need to speak up. When it is done with care and caution, we can ensure that fracking is a safe alternative energy
