With poverty comes violence, and violence leads to the failure for justice to prevail in corrupted or overthrown governments. Another prominent variable which seems to be the root problem in failing states is the absence of economic growth and a substantial amount of poverty. To put emphasis on iteration, if there is poverty, there will be more crime and corruption. Citizens of poverty states must find a way to survive, and citizens as well as government officials will do so by breaking the law and cutting corners. From the United Nations full study report, Improving ODA allocation for a post-2015 world, about “96% of people living in extreme poverty live in countries that are either politically fragile, environmental vulnerable, or both” (Improving ODA allocation for a post-2015 world). Also, according to the full study report from the United Nations, individuals living in extreme poverty from 1990 to 2015 were living off of less than $1.25 a day, making a total of $456.25 a year. Living off $1.25 shows that individuals do not even have basic necessities to live off of, let alone be able to provide for their family members.
