Frances Marie Cornelius was born one month prematurely, and the early delivery caused multiple problems. The biggest problem was that when she was a mere two weeks old, she suffered from
SUIDS (sudden unexplained infant death syndrome). Her mother was able to perform infant CPR, but
Frances went without oxygen for over three minutes, and her early childhood milestones were profoundly delayed. When the she was old enough to go to school there was a whole new set of trials.
Frances would go to school with her peers all day and come home and have to start on homework right after dinner. Her damaged brain tried to grasp the material, but there was damage to her short-term memory secondary to the SUIDS event, so learning

There was a time in her life when Frances was not sure if she would go to college because of her learning disability. Through Christ she was able to overcome the obstacles that life sent her way, and she hopes to show others that college is a possibility if one is willing to work hard. Frances Cornelius’ second academic goal is to be a well- rounded individual. She hopes to gain a wealth of knowledge and to strengthen her skills so that she will be able to accurately share that knowledge with others. The third and final academic goal that Frances

Cornelius.Session1.Journal has is to strengthen her leadership skills. With these newfound skills she hopes to impact other’s lives as a youth pastor.
SUIDS has had a tremendous effect on Frances’ academic career. Over time, she has found ways to overcome the struggles that once held her down. Her dreams of college are a reality because of the hard work she and her parents put into her education. As she continues to go to college, she hopes to be an inspiration to others, gain a wealth of knowledge, and strengthen her leadership skills.
