During World War 2 about 11 million people were taken from their homes and killed, and about 1.1 million of these people were kids. The play The Diary of Anne Frank, written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, is about the lives of 8 people who are forced to live in hiding for two years from the Natzis during the Holocaust. The Frank family, Van Daan family, and Mr. Dussel are hiding in a warehouse building in Amsterdam, Holland. In the play, we learn about all struggles and conflicts they had to go through everyday to try to survive. Having to live in hiding for two years, forces Anne, Peter, and Mr. Dussel to live in isolation, which makes them all react to things like being around people you don’t like or not having enough food, in very different ways. …show more content…
She often gets angry and upset over a lot of things, and most of time feels alone with nobody to talk to and express her feelings with. “(Sobered). Never…? Not even at nighttime, when everyone is gone? Or on Sundays? Can’t I go down to listen to the radio?”(22). This quote shows the part of the play, were Anne realizes she’ll never be able to go outside of the hiding place. “I only want some fun… someone to laugh and clown with… after you’ve sat still all day and hardly moved, you’ve got to have some fun. I don’t know what’s the matter with that boy”(27). This quote is from one of the parts of the story where Anne gets upset about not being able to do anything, and not having anyone to hang out with.
