Francis Michael Clancy known as “King” Clancy was a famous Irish- Canadian NHL player, referee, executive, and coach. He was born on February 25, 1902, and grew up in Ottawa Canada where he developed a love for hockey. Francis first started getting noticed in high school well he excelled in his school team. Clancy then went on to get drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1921. He played there for 9 seasons before being traded to Toronto in 1930 where he played for 7 years. At this point, Clancy had been known as one of the top players in the NHL despite being only 5’7 and 150 pounds. But what really made him special was his off ice generosity.
