Frank Beddor tells his own version of the story of Alice in Wonderland in the book The Looking Glass Wars. In Beddor´s version of the classic tale Alyss is the Princess of Wonderland ,who unwillingly leaves after her horrible Aunt Redd kills her parents. While Alyss was away in England her childhood friend, Dodge Anders, is fighting with the resistance to kill Redd. After living in England for thirteen years, Alyss returns to see her Aunt Redd has taken the throne. Soon after seeing the destruction that her Aunt Redd had caused Alyss became very angry, and she wanted Redd to feel the same pain that she had felt. The theme of vengeance recurs throughout the novel between these three characters.
