Have you ever felt crippling despair, sudden anxiety, an all consuming sense of fear, a sudden monstrous rage, the sense that your sanity is on the verge of snapping?

I'm sure you have, and I bet it was unexpected, you probably had a nice little life, filled with happiness, friends, love, or maybe you didn't, perhaps you always were stuck in a deep dark pit of despair, maybe you were always poor or had never known love or kindness, I know many of my kin enjoy that, finding one person and latching on to them when they're a mere child, feeding on their despair throughout their life, not that they ever live very long, my kin and I make sure that none of our prey live long. I'm sure you see now why our existence is needed, though I'm sure in your mind what we do is still monstrous, and I must admit, we don't do this out of some obligation to humanity, we do this out of sheer enjoyment, for you see we don't care about humans, about mortals, we do this because we enjoy it, no we love it, we love the pain we cause, we take pleasure in it, we love watching humans slowly break under our influence, watching them slowly lose all hope until the only thing that they can do is kill themselves, we take pleasures in all the pain we cause, I know it's sadistic, but it's the only thing that makes us feel, for you see while we have free will we still have limits, one of those being emotions, we weren't made to feel anything, but sadistic glee, it's why we're so effective, for we cannot feel pity,
