Robert Oppenheimer is compared and contrasted to Victor because Victor frankenstein was amazing scientist that studied chemical processes and the decay of living beings, He gains an insight into the creation of life and gives life to his own creations. Victor is a modern scientist unleashed upon an unsuspecting society. Victor becomes obsessed with the idea of creating the human form and acts upon it. After creating the Monster his first creation he realized what he done. “ Had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart.” pg 47. Victor made his first creation but he is scared of what he had done. “He was ugly then; but when those muscles and joints were rendered captive of motion, it became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived” pg 48. Victor, who must satisfy his urge to know all and use the learning he had learned in school to create a new race of man, but His excesses ultimately destroy him because he understands that making a new life always has its negatives. Victor late ron realizes that not everybody fits into society. “It is also a duty owed to yourself; for excessive sorrow prevents improvement and enjoyment, or even the discharge of daily usefulness, without which no man is fit for society.” pg 76.
