Frederick II of Prussia was a powerful and important ruler who left a legacy on the enlightenment. Frederick was born January 24, 1712. He was the oldest son of Frederick Williams I. He was talented and skilled in art, music and language. He also learned french culture and Greek and Roman classics. His education was strictly controlled by his father, his father wanted him to learn more about military and war than philosophy and music.
Frederick had a hard home life, he was abused by his father and was put into a strict training camp when he reached the age required. At the age of 18 he had attempted to flee to France with two friends for personal freedom, he was soon caught and arrested for treason. He was imprisoned into the
