School nutrition and its value to the student The school lunch is the center of every school day, the break in between the day where students sit down and goof around with each other. Sitting and enjoying a semi nutritious meal that nobody really likes but yet tolerates because it's free or has a reduced price. Yet it leads to your mind cooling off enough to focus for the rest of the school day. That little break and the good nutritious food leads to students having better grades and more work ethic. Free school lunches are a great gift to society, half the time it could be the only thing the child eats that day. This is why it would be better for more nutritional value in the meal. If the child had a better meal for the day, he would have more than half of his/her calorie intake for that day. At least they will have some energy for the rest of the day. Breakfast is another thing some schools include for free with the lunches, others don't. But this would add to more calories for the growing child. The reduced lunch route is great and it brings less stress to the parent. Especially if you live in a high inflation area, everything else is so expensive. The reduced lunch price is set and never fluctuates and provides a great outcome. This is still great, but doesn't help if the nutritional value of the meal isn't good enough. The human body needs a set amount of calories to keep your energy high. Children should not have to worry about eating enough for their energy. If you're paying for lunch, your child should get enough calories to keep them going out at recess and at
