Introduction

The aim of this paper is to review Fressoz and Bonneuil’s chapter about Anthropocene. It will provide an overview of what the whole chapter is going to be about.
Anthropocene
The “Anthropocene concept” is a period in which human activity has been the dominant influence on the climate of the earth (Fressoz & Bonneuil,2016, p.17). According to Fressoz and Bonneuil, Anthropocene began after the Industrial Revolution (Fressoz & Bonneuil,2016). There are three arguments given in favor of the Anthropocene concept. One of the argument is that high concentration of carbon dioxide is present in the atmosphere. Another argument is that “extinction” of species and modified distribution of species has accelerated due the collapse of biodiversity (Fressoz & Bonneuil,2016, p.23). One of the species extinct are the dinosaurs. The third argument is that there are new substances such as “plastics”, “hydrocarbons” and “pesticides” that are present in the “plants ecosystems” which are not only changing

Also, several questions were raised in my mind about the concepts discussed by Fressoz and Bonneuil’s chapter. Some of them were: Are the human beings significantly altering the planets ecosystems? When did Anthropocene period actually begin? Why should humans care about the Anthropocene? What is the root cause of the Anthropocene? How is Anthropocene different from Holocene? Moreover, I believe that the climate has changed significantly during the past few years in Pakistan. Fressoz and Bonneuil’s were right in blaming the human beings have caused significant changes in the climate as they have crossed the limit. Overall, I believe that Fressoz and Bonneuil’s have effectively explained when did Anthropocene begin, the concept of Anthropocene and the causes of
