Friar Lawrence Manipulator or Guardian angel In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet there was a vital character that operated in the shadows. He basically caused every single event that took place. This "Holy man" caused some of the most unholy acts, that costed five young lives, their names were Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Mercutio, and County Paris. In the beginning of this play they had painted him as this "holy guardian angel" that gave advice and shelter to the young and old. Throughout the play he would manipulate them into dancing the way he wanted them too. You could say he played them like a violin and cut their strings. He instead tells Romeo don't go to fast or this will end in disaster. He knew Romeo wasn't going to listen he just tried to rid himself of guilt. But you could say the Friar wasn't thinking about the consequences but no he foreshadows how this is going to end. As though he's seen this happen before and end in death. The worst part being that he is willing to marry them with the nurses consent to their marriage. Friar Lawrence has married thousands of people he full knew that this wasn't the right thing but he went along with it. You could say he had all good intents but I think he was going to reunite them from the death of their children. Romeo and Juliet are still young they don't know what true love really is. Romeo threatens to end his life and the Friar doesn't really try to stop him he just gives advice. An example of this is when Romeo was banished and Friar after marring them instead of them confessing to what happened he instead convinces them to go to Mantua. Yet when Juliet comes to him he tells her he
