The graphic novel that would make a great addition to the ones that we’ve already read is Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, written by Alison Bechdel. Like the other novels, Fun Home is a memoir. It traces the story of Alison from young girl to young adult as she learns about her lesbian sexuality, her father’s possible suicide and his secret homosexual life that leads to extra-marital affairs that become evident to Alison over time. Fun Home explores the theme of sexuality and carries on the preset theme of family dysfunction by Stitches. Bechdel transcribes entries from her childhood diary and analyzes memories in which she fights her family to express her individuality. Like Marji from Persepolis, Alison has a bit of a rebellious and nonconforming
