Fundamental Freedoms
“ Every person is the possessor of the fundamental freedoms including freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom of opinion, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom association.” page:188 - Weaving The World- Student Book A.
This means that everyone has the right to their own thoughts, religious beliefs, the right to have your own opinion. Everyone has freedom of speech so everyone can say what they want. Everyone has the right to hold meetings about whatever topic they want and not get arrested or in trouble with the law and the government.
The fundamental freedoms were established in Canada during the 1960’s . We need fundamental freedoms in Canada and all over the world really because theses freedoms give us the freedom and right to say what we want to say without being punished by for it and we are given the freedom to practice which ever religion we please without discrimination. Without theses fundamental freedoms we would not be allowed to share our opinion or express how we feel. With the fundamental rights we are allowed to control ourselves and we are allowed to think for ourselves and wear what we want. We have the right to do what we want with ourselves and no one can tell us otherwise or control us. If we would not have fundamental rights and freedoms we would not be able to hold meetings about which ever topic we would like to. Since we do have these rights in Canada we would not be penalized or in trouble with the law for having meetings and assemblies on certain topics.Fundamental Freedoms are important to have in Canada because without them we would be controlled by the government and stripped of our opinion and freedom of speech. We would not be living in a free country. The reason it is important to have in Canada is for example if there were no fundamental freedoms and I was a muslim living in Canada and because the majority of the population is catholic I would be forced to convert to catholicism or be killed this is why we need
fundamental freedoms and it is why we have them so that we can choose
