Some children don't get to say they had a childhood. Child labor, a system in which children are forced to work long hours, under terrible working conditions, with horrible pay. This is a popular thing children grow up doing. We say the children are the future, well our “future” is vanishing at our fingertips.So using two articles I will invision what is really going on in child labor, and how to save our American youth!
Kids all over are experiencing the horrible working conditions of child labor. Hamisi, an example of a child going through child labor explains some characteristics of his job. He works in a mine, delivering tools down a 300 meter deep mining pit. The boy states…”I nearly suffocated due to the inadequate supply of oxygen”. This is just one example of the horrible working conditions that these kids are under. Children that work in mines are breathing graphite dust which can cause serious health issues for them in the future.

It is rapidly spreading and can get worse is it is overlooked. The more low income families there are the more children will be put to work. “ Half a million children work on farms in the Ivory Coast” (Mckenzie and Swalls 4). If this is how many children work in the Ivory Coast, think about how many children work in the world. The more child labor is tearing kids down the more we are responsible for building them up!
While some kids are working all day, the rest are getting to go to school. These kids are too busy making a living, to experience the normal childhood things, like attending school. These kids wanna go to school! An example of this is… “ I wish I could go to school I want to learn how to read and write” (Mckenzie and Swalls 5). Unfortunately for this kid if child labor doesn't stop kids that work won't get to go to school. These children deserve the same opportunity to get an education that every kid should
