How do you feel a GA/GPSI position will better prepare you for your professional career after graduation?
My ideal jobs are academic and government jobs, such as Information Services Specialist, Data Processing Supervisor, and Public Health Program Specialist.
Firstly, joining GA/GPSI gives me the opportunity to work hands on in a professional environment. As an intern I will be there to gain actual government work experience.
Secondly, employers are much more likely to hire someone with internships and work experience rather than someone with a generic resume, lacking experience. GA/GPSI give me a great opportunity to build a strong resume.
Thirdly, as an intern in campus or public service I'll become a master of time management. I am a graduate student; meanwhile I am also a government employee. Time management is vital in balancing these two roles. When I’m working in a fast paced professional environment I need to know every minute counts.
Finally, University or state agencies may hire interns after graduation. GA/GPSI are great tools to improve my chances as a job applicant and help make me a better potential employee. (166 words)
