Country music has seen many artists who have contributed to its growth and popularity, and Garth Brooks is one of these artists. The legacy Brooks has made for himself is one which has not only impacted country music but the music industry as a whole since he accomplished many things other country artists had not been able to achieve before. Selling millions of records throughout his career, Brooks created a strong career for himself and was able to jump back seamlessly into his career after taking a break. This persona was supposed to be for the future film called “The Lamb”, but it was ignored by a lot of country fans, and it was deemed to be a failure, not bringing any growth to his career. About 16 years ago, on October 26, 2000, Garth Brooks announced that he was retiring from stardom to focus on his family. Since he could not balance out his career in country music and family life, he decided to take a break from the show business. He announced his departure from country music at a party his record label threw for him, celebrating selling 100 million albums in the United States. His inability to balance both his career and family affected his life in a negative manner, and he got a divorce from his failing marriage with Sandy Mahl after a fourteen year marriage, released the album Scarecrow and retired. During his retirement, he got to raise his three young girls: Taylor Mayne Pearl, August Anna, and Allie Colleen. He had stated that the best years of his life were when he took a break from music and focused on fatherhood, raising his three children. Brooks said he was going to stay away from the spotlight until his last daughter turned eighteen. During that time, he decided to go public with his relationship with Trisha Yearwood and got re-married in their home in Oklahoma on December 10, 2005. His career brought him many awards and recognitions, giving him the fame and popularity he still holds today. Throughout his career, he was able to obtain two Grammy awards and is known to have the most best-selling albums in the nation from the year 1991 and on. Brooks was able to sustain his popularity with country music listeners even after his departure from the public eye and saw his success continue to grow as he came back to the music industry to continue to record and tour.
