Book Report by Mak Moussa The Woods Runner is a fiction book written by Gary Paulsen. It takes place during the Revolutionary War where America is trying to get freedom from the British. It is about this kid named Samuel whose house gets burned down by the British. He goes back to his house and finds many dead bodies but none of them are his parents'. He then finds out that they were taken by the British so he goes on a long journey to New York, British headquarters. Along the way, he meets all of these different people with one in particular being this little girl named Annie who Samuel saved from the British. This book is really interesting because the children in this book behave so differently from how children act now a days. They are different because of the challenges they have to face, the government they have, their responsibilities and roles in their family, and the lack of technology they had.

Back then, children did not have all the luxuries we have now a day. Most children during this time stopped going to school after the age of eight. This is different now a days because most children go to school at least up to high school if not to college. Children during the Revolutionary War were also not as hygienic as children now a day are. They only had a few sets of clothes and took few bathes per year. This is different now because children usually take at least four showers per week and have more than a few pairs of clothes. They also had to start work after the age of eight as whatever there parents occupation was. Now a day, people don't start work till after college which would be around the age of twenty-five. Life during this time was tough for them because of all of these things which tells us how lucky we
