How would you define academic readiness?
I would define ACADEMIC READINESS as someone who is ready to set an academic goal and having the resources to accomplish them. They are ready to succeed and advance in a personal and professional growth and level. Ready to set the time and effort to continue their education and succeed or advance in position at their employment or life in general. To use the resources wisely to succeed like using a computer to access websites and eBooks.
What concerns, if any, do you have with academic writing and reading?
My main concern is academic writing since I’ve not been in a college environment in over ten years. I fear at failing in writing any type of essay or paper incorrectly. For example, what is the correct way to present a paper like the title sheet, where would my name be placed or should I number each paper. Am I expressing my ideas correctly? My basic grammar skills needs an update or to be reviewed.
What two university resources will you use to strengthen your writing and reading skills (refer to your Student Life Worksheet)?
The two university resources I will be using to strengthen my writing skills will the Plagiarism Checker and WritePoint®. The WritePoint® provides a quick feedback on grammar, usage, and spelling, which is what I will be needing work on. The Plagiarism Checker will help me reference the different quotes and saying that I will use in my writings. It will be a lot easier using these resources than to search for them online. Once, I am able to do it while my trainer is next to me then I am confident that I learned a new skill. I also noticed that when I doing the task repeatedly for awhile then I begin to think of ways to make it better. Either to make the process easier and or faster.
What are two obstacles you might need to overcome (refer to your Life Factors and personality assessments)?
The two obstacles I might need to overcome are time management and staying focus. I need to manage my time better so; I will use a calendar to set up time to do homework. This will go perfectly with staying focus on one task at a time instead of multi tasking which will distract my focus on homework. I have the bad habit of trying to do everything at the same time in such little time which causes poor quality work.
What strategies can you use to overcome these obstacles and be successful?
The strategies I can use to overcome these obstacles are to stay focus on the task on hand and finish it with the best quality work I can provide. To use the
