I graduated from West Point and I was second highest ranking in my class. My name is George Brinton McClellan, and I was born December 3, 1826 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was a studious child and I was very educated. I was very intelligent. As a kid I loved to read and learn and I put my skill into a lot of things. Dr. George McClellan and Elizabeth Steinmetz Brinton were my parents. I was just 13 when I first started studying the law. My father was the founder of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1824, my father knew the Whig party and for that reason I got accepted into West Point. I was a soldier, railroad tycoon, and a statesman. I was influential during the rapid expansion of the United States and the destruction during the Civil War. I was selected to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. I was only 15 years old when I graduated in 1846 at the number 2 spot in my class. Because of my high performance and my academic abilities, I was commissioned as second lieutenant in the prestigious US army corps of engineers. I was not an abolitionist, but I believed the country should be preserved even if war had to take place. When the war broke out, I became a Major General in the Ohio State Militia.
