Ghost Walk Assignment

This was an interesting assignment, and I found it very helpful. After doing this assignment, I feel that I have a different perspective of how I view our school as I walk down the hallways or into classrooms.
For the purpose of this assignment, every morning this week (Tuesday – Friday), when I walked into the school, I would do my own Ghost Walk. My classroom is all the way in the back of the school, so as I walk through the hallways, I see every classroom from Kindergartens all the way to the 5th and 6th grade rooms. Usually I walk through the hallways as quickly as possible, since I am trying to get to my classroom, but this week I actually stopped and looked at all the bulletin boards, student work, and window displays. • First graders learned adding number using models. There was student work display, with models.
• Second graders had writing samples about family and student backgrounds. They had get to know me work.
• Third graders had science work. They observed leaves and wrote about differences. They also had one bulletin board where they classified Pokémon creatures and wrote stories about the. This was my favorite one, as I was able to see a lot of engagement based only on the hallway bulletin boards.
• Fourth graders are learning about the branches of government and division.
• Firth graders are writing narratives and adding decimals.

For the purpose of this activity, and been the science content leader, I walked into science classrooms. I did 6th grade and 3rd grade. My visits were brief. Teachers knew I was going into classrooms to see student learning. In one classroom, students were doing a science activity on the computer, while the teacher had about ten other students observing a video and writing questions. This classroom was very hands on, and I could tell a lot of students were engaged and enjoyed the activities. The other classroom, students were working on math and some were cutting out science definitions to put into their interactive notebooks. Both classrooms had a lot of anchor charts, and student work on the walls. Both classrooms also had the objectives and questions of the day. Overall, I was very pleased to see high student engagement in both
