This man deserves this medal not just for saving Jews but also for being the Ambassador of Mexico and helping countries come back to their feet and making these countries a safe environment for jews and other european to rest and not be worried of someone killing their family. Gilberto was also taken into custody because of his actions of saving Jews. Like people say your actions have consequences well for Gilberto his actions of saving forty thousand refugees ended up for a punishment of his wife, three kids, forty staff and himself getting arrested and sent to jail for their good crimes. Mexico then made an agreement with Germany to free Gilberto, his wife, kids and staff from prison and Germany agreed. The agreement was an exchange of prisoners, Germany would give them the mexican prisoners and Mexico would give Germany german prisoners that were in mexican prisons. All of his actions that he did ended in a bad result for him and his loved ones but at the end he saved thousands of refugees and his family were not in danger which made him extremely happy but no one recognized him for his actions not into the news spread few years
