My observations from Gina Garcia’s speech have influenced me to take further more advantage of the opportunities that are provided for myself and other colored individuals. Before the knowledgeable information that was provided, I had no understanding of what an HSI represented or that it even existed. After Garcia’s inspiring words there was a sense of clarification. I usually don’t find myself attentive to events as this one however, what intrigued me was that not only was she well-informed of the concern but you can tell she was eager to provide relevant information to individuals who can continue preventing adversity within the Latino/a community.
