I am interested in the Ginsberg Fellow program as it will allow me to serve my community while expanding upon my personal growth and leadership development. I am very passionate about working with children and providing them with opportunities that will improve their learning and reading experiences. Having volunteered through Readers & the Best program at Ginsberg Center, I have observed the sheer amount of joy and eagerness children have to participate in the intellectually stimulating activities. I remember volunteering at the Family Reading Night at Avalon Housing and being excited to be able to provide them with an opportunity to gather around with their families for a night of engagement around reading. They were motivated and interested in creating, reading and learning about every activity we gave them. I have also enjoyed visiting elementary schools and creating a two-hour lesson plan that kept children focused, engaged and positively contributed to their learning. I would love to be more involved in the community and learn about education programs and opportunities that we can create to enhance children’s interest in reading and learning. Volunteering and giving back to the community plays a big role in my life. I have volunteered throughout my entire high school years through the Circle of Life organization, which focused on creating a fun and interacting environment for disabled kids.
