Giving people blankets is like giving them a warm hug. I did this as the President of my community service group. We made blankets for our local children's shelter. We planned this project with two months as the time frame. One month prior to making the blankets, I helped organize a dessert sale during a community event. The event was an exhibition of what children had learned from an eight week enrichment program. Everyone in the group signed up, then made and brought desserts. During the fundraiser, we raised $250. I decided we would make tie blankets. We would use the profits from the fundraiser to buy supplies. A few weeks later we all met at Walmart and bought the material. The following week we met at a church gym to make the blankets.
