There comes a time in a young person's life where they experience the journey of landing their first job. I decided it was time to stop relying on my parents for some petty cash each time I wanted to go out with my friends and get a stable job. Of course, I was aware that most sixteen year olds land jobs that consist inconvenient hours, non-flattering uniforms and barely manage pay minimum wage, but being in the state of desperation for some petty cash, I thought I could learn from the experience and gain some knowledge under my belt. I didn't know where I wanted to apply, or even knew how to write a resume. I had never had a real job, the only “work experience” I had ever gotten was babysitting the neighborhood kids for a couple hours, or cleaning the kitchen for my parents after school. Knowing I had to start somewhere, both my mother and I went online and found a load of job searching websites and waited for the perfect position to arise. That unfortunately never happened, and after countless email spam notifications later, I had managed to apply to a Movie Theatre, Safeway and seriously considered Papa Murphy's position, but not a single call back came through. I was losing the little hope I had to begin with and was on the brink of give up when finally, my aunt, Chelsea ran the possible idea of me working as a server at the company she is working at, Glenwood Place Senior Living, telling me I basically had the job.
