Globalization has created a list of human rights to spread equality in countries around the world, which have mostly been influenced by the western world. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed by 48 countries gives the humans living in those countries the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights established to let people live freely from oppression, despotism, exclusion and exploitation. Therefore, to a moderate extent should forces of globalization be used to promote ideas of human rights and equality. Globalization has increased international mobility, trade, and communication technology, which has resulted in human trafficking being done all over the world and increasing. The type of globalization that most supports this unethical crime is economic globalization. Through the help of economic globalization those from developing countries facing poverty, poor government control, lack of education and job skills, unavailability of jobs, and a poor quality of life they are lured into the world of human trafficking by traffickers giving them false hopes and lying to them. Traffickers use these disadvantages against them, luring them to come with them in false hopes of a better future in a developed country. For example, a woman in Czech, who worked at a cafe and had an abusive alcoholic husband along with a young daughter, was offered a job in Germany by a man who had come into the cafe. She thought about the possibilities of a better future for her and her daughter along with the fact that her country's economy was collapsing, and accepted the job. Though once she got to Germany, all her personal belongings including her passport was taken away from her and she was forced into prostitution. The differences in economic …show more content…
Transnational corporations are a representation of this statement. Transnational companies have outsourced their factories into developing countries where they have unethical labour laws and go against the human rights stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, due to overpopulation, poverty and a lack of an independent and functioning government system. For example, in third world country factories, the workers have gender inequality, no social security, are degraded, are not allowed to form trade unions, and can not take breaks even after working long and tiring hours. Whereas, in developed countries all rights given to the workers are followed and secured which includes creation of trade unions. As well as, the corporation; Phillips Van Heusen closed its factory in Guatemala because the workers attempted to create a union to protect their rights. From this they also profited from lower wages by sweatshop contractors. In the Universal Declaration of Human rights, it is a human right to not be exploited and have trade unions. All transnational corporations abuse these two human rights in all third world countries, because they are aware that they will not be facing any consequences for their actions.
