If there was a lack of nutritious food, you could be malnourished. Another reason why you should not be a miner is that the prices were very high. For example, flour was $800 which was very expensive in the past. Also, eggs and two spools of thread cost a lot, at a price of 13.50 if you bought two eggs. If you purchased these items at another place, these would require only a few cents!
Food was often infrequent and was very hard to find, and mosquitoes were omnipresent virtually everywhere buzzing around, and they were very detrimental to the miners.

That is my mentality, some people have a different opinion about that, but that is how I think of it.
More evidence was that there was inadequate food and I do not want to starve to death! Many storms were coming to California looking back at the previous paragraphs I was talking about. There was also dry grass for your oxen if you went the land route, as I said I would go sea route but I know some people would choose to go land route.
The Gold Rush also started wars, and I would not want to be in any fights. I believe the reason why wars started is that people did often see gambling, which led to these wars, and rash verdicts. Some events that happened during the Gold Rush was depression, repression, crimes which started stealing and recklessness. There weren’t many ways to fix the diseases.
