Golda Meir, named after her great- grandmother, she was born on MAy 3, 1898 in Kiev, Russian Empire.Meir was one of her 8 siblings, but 5 of her siblings died in infancy (3boys and 2 girls). In 1903 Golda’s father ( Moshe Mabovitch) departed to America, but once he was settled he would send for his family.3 years later Gold and family all packed up left for America, they first landed in Quebec, Canada and then took a train to Milwaukee. Golda an her close friend Regina H. formed an organization, ( American Young Sisters Society) to raise money to buy textbooks for the students in her class who couldn't afford them. But them in 1912 Meir plans to run away and live with her sister who lives in Denver and is married, after she finds out that she can't be a teacher if she is married, Being 14 years old, Golda runs away and meets Morris Meyerson and they immediately start dating and started going to a new high …show more content…
Later in 1924 she has a boy ( Menahem) and in 1926 she has a girl (Sara). In 1928, Golda becomes a secretary of the women’s labor but then moves back to Tel Aviv with her children but left her husband Morris behind. 2 years later, Golda is now one of the founders of Mapai, 1934 she returns to Palestine and is elected for Executive Committee of Histadrut, 1940 she becomes head of Histadrut. Gladly in 1955 she accepts being mayor and then in 1967 with the trust from the President Nixon, he helped her open peace talks with the United Arab Republic. But sadly a year later she retires from any political activity, but after the death of the Prime Minister, Levi Eshkol, she later came out of retirement and becomes the 4th Prime MInister. But after finding out she’s getting very ill she resigns being Prime MInister in 1974. One year later she decides to write an autobiography ( My Life) “ Golda Meir”.
