In the novel Anthem by Ayn Rand, The Golden One and Equality 7-2521 are the main and important characters, while the secondary characters are also important but have many different meanings behind them. However, there are many noticeable differences. The main characters accept the beliefs they have heard until they begin questioning them and unknowingly adding new ones to their minds. Meanwhile, the secondary characters accept their beliefs and live their lives according to them. The Golden One is not like the others.” This shows that the golden one has unique features about him when everybody should be the same. The golden one does exhibit extraordinary curiosity when it comes to finding the “I” within themselves and others. Next, the text shows, “All men are good and wise. For we are not like our brothers.” Furthermore, Equality 7-2521 realizes, while he is in his childhood years, that he might be unique from those around him. As his life goes on, he slowly accepts his differences, but, at the beginning, he regrets his differences and tries to “fix” himself to fit in more. Finally, on page one the text states, “Nothing moves in this tunnel save our hand on the paper. We are alone here on the earth. It is a fearful word, alone.
