Goodwill is a leader because it’s a great place where people with disabilities, people with limited work history and people who have experienced corporate downsizing and government support programs go if they are in need of help. Goodwill has programs where youth between the ages of 12 and 17 who are at risk of bad choices go for mentoring. Walmart founds $2.5 million to goodwill for single mothers who are in need of a job and provides them with long-term planning and tools that they’ll need to retain their jobs, advanced careers, and ensures stability for their children and themselves. Goodwill also offers green jobs training it helps participants attain employment in energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. Goodwill was founded in 1902 in Boston by Rev. Edgar J. Helms, a Methodist minister and early social innovator.
