When we talk about Corporate Social Responsibility, we are talking not only the corporate philanthropy but also the company itself. With the development of the society, more and more people realize the importance of engagement of charity of the companies. The bigger the company is, the more responsibility it should take. Here is a very good model, Google. As a company of emerging technology, Google takes a really great social responsibility. Firstly, Google has been firmly committed to active philanthropy. From the online information, Google’s philanthropic action includes general global problems, such as challenges of climate change, education and poverty alleviation, and specific reactions to particular disaster. Google uses their own strengths and resources hoping to raise awareness of the importance of corporate philanthropy, and encourage society to participate in and contribute to the development of social responsibility. What’s more and strike me most, Google does great effort in China, especially during the unprecedented destructive earthquake hitting the Western China. Google and its employees raised over 18 million RMB (USD 2.6million) and donated over 7 million RMB’s worth of free online advertising to earthquake relief organizations. As a Chinese, I am really appreciated. What has Google done can raise a social phenomenon about taking CSR and show example for others. Other company can also learn from it and raises own reputation, with benefiting the society. Secondly, Google itself has great responsibility of society. Some people might ignore the company itself which serve an important role of social responsibility. According to recent data, Google has 53861 employees around the whole world, which has great impact on employment rate.
