Gordon B. Hickley, the 15th president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, avers that “it is not enough just to be good. We must be good for something. Hinckley) Hickley encourages people to do good deeds in the world so that the world will become a better place which is characteristic of a humanist’s point of view on the issue of why people do good. Obama encourages people to “go out and make good things happen” this means that people should do good in the world so that the world will be filled with hope, and in turn the person will be too. Through encouraging people to do good in the world, Obama is showing that people should do good to make the world a better place, as the humanist believed, and not to seek rewards or to please god, as the Puritans Believed. An example of how organization influences positive improvement around the world can be seen in the annual campaign, Christmas Child, Hosted by Samaritan’s Purse. This campaign encourages people from around the world to pack shoe boxes to be given as Christmas gifts to children around the world who are in need. This Christian organization encourages people to do good not to impress God, but instead to help millions of children around the world.
