One of the most distinctive features in Gothic cathedrals are the towering walls of stained glass windows. For the first time in architectural history, cathedrals were no longer dark but instead brought in a vast amount of lighting. A “kaleidoscope of colors” of light shines through these enormous stained glass windows and reflects on the walls and ceiling of the cathedral. Not only did these windows beautify the cathedral, they told biblical stories.
