Early Life
Gough Whitlam was born in Victoria in a suburb called Kew on July 11 1916, he was the eldest of two children Martha Maddocks and Frederick Whitlam. He attended Mowbray House, knox Grammar School, Telopea Park High School and Canberra Boys Grammar School. He finished school in 1931 at 15 years of age he was too young to go to university, he sat an exam 3 more times from 1932 to 1934.In 1935 he enrolled to the University of Sydney and received his art and law degree.
