Graduation Speech: Black History Month

Somewhere around junior year of college, my love for my minor outweighed my love for journalism. Looking back now, I think I would have made a fabulous history teacher. Granted this month is Black History Month, I can't help but smile and deeply appreciate the depths and heights my ancestors transcended, just to get me and others where we are today. I love my heritage, all that I've been taught and all that I am, I owe to those before me. The obstacles they've victored, the struggles they’ve endured and their perseverance is what makes me believe that 'yes I can.'
I celebrate the greatness and the hope they had, which gave them strength to fight for equal rights and social change.
It’s because of the stouthearted African American men
