Today I cried, not because I hurt myself , but because I realized how much I'm not wanted.
I've spent my life trying to negotiate the intricacies of kindness, humanity and tolerance, only to be despised for my efforts.
Once in a while I have to take the liberties of freedom away from someone in an effort to keep the liberties of freedom in tact for another. For this act of duty I am called a bully.
You need me when your in trouble but hate me when I pull you over for running a red light and almost killing a family of four.
I'm not sure why I keep doing it . Only a mad person would consider this type of occupation.

But we do it.
We do it because of a sense of responsibility to the community. It's what we were taught by our parents. It's what we believe in.
And by the way..... No , we are not perfect ,nor do we think we are.
We're not in it for the money , nor are we ignorant , uneducated simpletons.
We are front line officers. Men and women that show up when you need protection.
We are not policy makers, we are the ones that respond to your 911 calls , not knowing what's waiting for us when we get there. We do it for you.
We are the front line . The people you call when your in trouble. For the most part you are strangers to us but we still come running.
When your afraid to go in your basement because you hear a noise, we go down there for you, not knowing what we might find. All so you can have a good night sleep.
When your daughter is missing. We put our own families on the back burner to help you keep yours together. We have families too , but tonight we will be home a little late because we haven't found that missing stranger yet.
Once in a while someone will take a shot at us . Not because of what we did or said but because he just doesn't like the sight of our
