Grand Canyon Research Paper

The Grand Canyon was granted National Park in 1919. By that time, the National Park Service had already been around for three years. Most of the national parks nowadays had not been established as a national park yet. As soon as the Grand Canyon was opened to the public, it became a hit. The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona, USA, and is one of the biggest canyons in the world.
Around 40,000 people visited the Grand Canyon a year. It is about 289 miles from start to finish. The Canyon varies in widths of over half a mile to 19 miles! In fact, John Farndorn said that “The Grand Canyon is so narrow that sometimes motorcyclists can jump across!” The Grand Canyon is definitely one of the wonders of the world.

Franklin Roosevelt oversaw all of Grand Canyon’s titles during the early 1900s. When the Grand Canyon achieved national park status, it had been 3 years since the National Park Service was created. The Canyon was first spotted in 1540 by Francisco Coronado. At that time, he was still undergoing the Coronado Expedition.
The Colorado River started cutting into the Colorado Plateau six million years ago. Many stones and resources dating over 2.5 million years ago were found at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. These stones included gems, fossils, and other valuable items. The fossils helped us picture how the Grand Canyon was formed. Some of the rocks even date back four billion years ago.
The history of the Grand Canyon is far too incomplete. There are immense gaps in history, where no one knows what happened. Some rocks’ ages are too far apart from other rocks. This could mean two possibilities. Either there weren’t enough minerals or something removed a large amount of minerals, causing gaps in the rocks’
