The Great Sphinx, which is located in Giza, Egypt, sits right next to the Great Pyramid. The Great Sphinx has the head of a handsome man and the body of a ferocious lion. This giant statue is 240 feet long and 60 feet tall. It’s face is equal to 13 feet across, which makes the head really small for the colossal body. The head is believed to ressemble King Khafre with a lovingly adorned headdress. It has started to get worn away by desert wind, sand, and rain. It has also been up to it’s neck in sand and has been needed to be dug out at least four times since the 1800’s, but it has been for 4,000 years and still stands proud next to the Great pyramid.
