Being a witness to a personal injury case is an important role to fill. You have to be sure you are honest and unbiased in your report. Learn how to be a reliable lay witness below:

What to do First
As a witness, the first thing you need to do is check your watch and make note of the time of the accident. You will need to have all of your facts down so make sure you also take a look at the street signs around you. One or more people may be injured, and time is of the essence. Check both vehicles to make sure everyone is okay. If you have the skills, perform CPR if anyone needs it or wrap any bleeding drivers or passengers. If you see that anyone is complaining of a painful or sore back, neck , or other body part, do not move them unless the car is in danger of exploding. The passenger may have a fractured or broken spine and moving him or her may only make things worse.
