The land dividing amongst two seas originates life that is full of history and tradition. Mythology of the islands formed by the God and Goddess: Izanagi and Izanami who appeared upon a floating bridge of heaven, they stirred the ocean with a jewel-headed spear, drippings from the spear formed islands of Japan. (Kamachi, 9) Along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean the island of Japan is filled with people of unique cultures that are fully diverse in styles and customs. During the periods of Yayoi and Jomon era music was highly adapted and valued due to the presence of imminent music figures. From this historic era music was recorded in Koiki and Nihon Shoki. The Japanese history is rich in songs as well as poems. In the beginning of the seventeenth century, kabuki music was played on a handheld flat gong (kane) that the performers struck as they danced and chanted Buddhist prayers (Kiyoko, 1174).
