The Greenbrier Bunker

Project X, Project Casper, or later known as Project Greek Islands was a secret bunker built for the members of congress to go to if a nuclear war developed from the 1960s to the 1990s. This project came to a cost of $14 million dollars. It was fortunately never used. The Greenbrier resort was constructed on top of the bunker, and is located in white sulphur springs, West Virginia in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains approximately 120 miles outside Charleston, South Carolina. The bunker was being built right in plain sight. Construction of the built the exhibit hall and two meeting were being right in front of the public's view. These rooms were open to the Greenbrier guests as part of the above ground wing. Rumors still stirred as for speculation of the construction project was associated with significant evacuation periods which went on during the peak years of the nuclear fallout shelter turmoil. Instead, they hired C&O Railways to be an “undisclosed agent” while building the bunker. Also, they followed a military procedure where they only told people exactly how much they needed to know.
