Gun Control

The right of every American is to bear arms as stated in the 2nd Ammendment to the Constitution. Therefore, gun control is a violation of that right. Throughout the last twenty years, Democrats and Republicans have been at each other’s throats about finding a proper way to regulate gun usage without controlling it. Naturally, it has led to politicians in the executive branch using their power to control the selling of guns.
The invention of firearms ended the days where ruthless dictators and tyrants overtook people and conquered nations without resistance. As people armed themselves, they were able to make a stand and defend themselves against such tyranny.

The second Amendment to the Constitution states that, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
The first wind of gun control in the United States began in 1934 with the National Firearms Act which imposed a tax on the making and sale of firearms. In addition, a tax on persons and entities engaged in the business of importing, manufacturing, and dealing in firearms. The law also required the registration of all firearms with the Secretary of Treasurer.
Firearms subject to the 1934 Act included shotguns and rifles having barrels less than eighteen inches in length, certain firearms described as “any other weapons,” machine guns, and firearm mufflers and silencers.

When anti-gun groups became very active, the NRA enacted the S .49 - Firearms Owners' Protection Act which amended the Gun Control Act of 1968 to redefine "gun dealer," excluding those making occasional sales or repairs. Exempts certain activities involving ammunition from current prohibitions. Included where many admissions that protected the right to bear arms.

During the late 1980 and 90’s gun control activist were very straight forward that they wanted handguns banned. The majority of the American public was against banning handguns and the activist began targeting less restrictive bans.

However, the assault weapon definition was very hard to determine. The ban was set to expire after 10 years. With evidence of lower crime using assault weapons not found, the Act was sunsetted.
Since the failure of the Assault Weapons Ban reenactment, gun control lobbies have challenged the 2nd Amendment with two cases reaching the Supreme Court. In both cases, the court affirmed the right to bear arms for individuals, the first ruling of its kind in more than 200
