Many people say that gun laws need to removed because the Second Amendment states that we have the right to bear arms. While the Constitution does say that we have the right to bear arms, laws restricting the use of guns would be beneficial because guns directly affect crime rates and gun related deaths decrease when gun laws are increased. …show more content…
As written by the Gale Group in their article “Gun Control”, “In 1993, Congress passed the Brady Act as an amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. [...] The Brady Act required a five-day waiting period for all handgun sales, during which a background check was to be made on all prospective purchasers. [...] Moreover, between 1993, when the law’s background checks were implemented, and 2006, gun-related homicides fell by 32 percent.” What this is saying is that we don’t need to ban guns. All we need to do is just make it harder for people who have a history of violent acts to buy guns. If we can do this, it’s not affecting our second amendment
