In this essay I will firstly explain three of my own values, where my values came from and how they relate to social care values and my service user groups values. I will reflect on any similarities and tensions that may exist between them.
Outcome 1 Question 1
The first value I hold is Safety, from the day we are born we put our lives into our parents arms they feed us nurture us put us down to sleep we safe in making judgement about feeding us the correct amount, keeping us safe. We then start to build up the confidence to trust in ourselves that we make the right decision to stick in at school to get an education. Thus creating a confident young adult who is able to go through the rest of their …show more content…
Also I learned from parents, that different is not bad or better but just different when I started school I could see discrimination in the form of bullying of my friend but not just her anyone else who happened to be that bit different I from the colour of their skin to wearing glasses or callipers on their legs myself and my close friend were not like this we had a great group of people in our social group very diverse and to this day are still friends. Also the media can shape children’s minds some positive but negativity can be shown as well in the media you evolve as a person to become open minded and accepting that not everyone has the same beliefs or opinions as you. I would ask all members if they would like to attend and not just the members who are Christian not everyone might want to go but you are giving them the freedom of choice to make their minds up and not you assuming they would not want to go due to religious beliefs (Anon., 2009)
The second example of Anti-discriminatory practice with the care standards, privacy this can be very apt in the form of religious beliefs again within a care home setting if a care user needs assistance with personal care/hygiene it is imperative that you set in place a routine with your care user as not to embarrass or in fact break any religious laws they may attain to for example a male care worker working with a Muslim woman. (bcs, n.d.)
The third example of Anti-discriminatory practice with the care standards, realising potential this may become an issue if a woman for instance came into my service provider and wanted help on doing something within the building trade, which is a male orientated business I would do my utmost to try and find out as much information on college courses or training opportunities maybe even costing to get a builder in to learn my service user some basic skills and if this is what she would like to do then support her all the way in her new career path.
