Working with the new officer team, we were able to obtain over two dozen new members. HOSA began to garner status within the school through interactive projects, such as passing out red ribbons for red ribbon week and bringing in medical professionals for career day. As the club procured funds, the Waxahachie HOSA chapter was able to send seven people to compete at the Area Conference in the Spring of 2016. I volunteered to represent my school as one of the seven competitors and ended up placing 6th out of 42 in my event. Being able to interact with other chapters opened my eyes to the potential the Waxahachie chapter could achieve. As this was our first competition, I took advantage of the learning experience and became familiar with the competition layout and function.
