For instance, when Hamlet finds the perfect opportunity to kill Claudius during prayer, he reconsiders his actions: “Now I might do it. Now he is praying. And now I’ll do it. And so he goes to heaven, And so am I that would be scanned. I his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven” (Hamlet III.3.78-83). Shakespeare uses the point of view of Hamlet, by using the first-person pronouns “I, and I’ll”, to show Hamlet's unwillingness to send Claudius to heaven. Again, he portrays Hamlet’s thought process, and clearly shows that Hamlet thinks before he commits actions, when he says, “I his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven.” On the other hand, Fortinbras deals with revenge regardless of whom his actions will affect. To demonstrate, Fortinbras seeks revenge by “attacking” Poland, desiring to take his father's land back, and when Hamlet hears about Fortinbras plan, he says,“My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth”(Hamlet IV .4.9.56)! Shakespeare uses personification to emphasize Hamlet's thoughts, when he says, “My thoughts be bloody,” implying that violence is the solution.
