Hammurabi’s code and the Old Testament Law Code are similar in a lot of ways. They are both very strict. They set up a situation, and punishment for if it were to happen, with no exceptions. Nowadays people would typically go through extensive law procedures to determine the circumstances of a crime, motives behind it, etc. to determine what the punishment would be, which is very different than what these codes prescribe. As I was reading through the Old Testament Law Code, I realized that a lot of the codes were like the ones stated in Hammurabi’s code.
